A Different Timescale

Blue Chip Securities

I used to trade like a penny stock, worth whatever the last person paying attention decided I was worth, swinging on rumors I never even got to see before they moved the price.

Depression tried a hostile takeover once. I did not fight it with force. I just slowly, over years, merged the part of me that wanted to survive with the part that still wanted to try.

I am not as volatile in the same way anymore. Not because nothing moves me, but because I stopped needing every swing to be a referendum on whether I am still worth holding.

I think what changed is smaller than a turnaround story. I just started measuring myself over years instead of days, which is the only timeline that ever tells you what something is actually worth.

I do not know if I am blue chip. I know I am no longer for sale to whoever happens to be looking at the ticker that particular afternoon.
